Being a man doesn't make you immune to developing severe health conditions, so much like women, scheduling routine health screenings is imperative for early detection and treatment.
Tailored specifically for men, our well-man check-up is designed to give an overview of your current health status and outline potential future health-related issues. It's an excellent baseline health check and addresses many common health concerns.
The assessment includes thoroughly examining your previous health records and complete family history. You'll also be asked about your lifestyle, with questions mainly aimed at diet, exercise, alcohol consumption and smoking status.
The physical check-up will involve a range of tests which may vary depending on your age and needs. Most assessments will begin with recording your height, weight and body mass index (BMI). A blood profile may be indicated. This will consist of blood tests examining your blood, cholesterol, liver health, bone health and testosterone, and blood pressure measurements.
Urine samples are commonly taken to test for diabetes and kidney infection. Examinations, including for prostate, may also be carried out, however, this is usually recommended for patients aged 40 and above. An electrocardiogram (ECG) may be conducted to monitor your heart's rhythm and electrical activity.
This detailed screening is highly effective at finding early signs of common health issues that affect men. At the end of the check-up, Dr Thusi will run through the results and offer advice about what to do next should any health concerns arise.
Be proactive about your health and schedule your men's health check-up today.
